Dear Parents and Students,
Dr Bevan Morris’ Visit and Beginning our 20th Year Celebrations This is one of my favourite photos taken at the school over the last two years.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our most recent “special day” at school such a joyous occasion for our school community. As well as welcoming Dr Bevan Morris to our school, we welcomed Dr & Mrs Clarke, Dr Brown, Mr Bell, Ms Green and Faye who joined our students, staff and parents for a range of activities throughout the day. This photo will soon have pride of place in my office.
Lunchtime Clubs Program
The staff and I are keen to explore the possibilities available to us for extending the activities we offer to the students at lunchtimes. Currently, while the weather has been so beautiful, the students are active outside, although many make tracks to the Library on Mon/Tues/Wed during the second half of lunchtime.
This initiative is also aligned with our goal to make our school even more accessible and welcoming to parents who we know can add even further value to what is already contributed through attendance at excursions, PFA events and gardening activities.
Today I met with the student leaders during our SRC Meeting. They shared with me the details of their class meetings where they received suggestions such as:
- Supporting charities through special days at school such as “Crazy Hair Day, Pyjama Day, Casual Clothes Day
- Art Club
- Toy/Book Swap Day
- Harmony Day
- School Disco
- Gardening & Planting Club
We are seeking parental assistance from those who can help with the running of these or other activities at school during lunchtimes. You may also consider some of the following:
- Board Games
We would love to hear from you. Perhaps you have some great suggestions to add to the list that was started by the students.
Student Leadership – Year 5 Ministers in Training
Congratulations to our Year 5 students who have been allocated a “Minister In Training” portfolio. They are all keen and excited to assist their more senior classmates to make our school great(er).
Magpie Rookie Program
This week our school welcomes Penny Cula-Reid and Emma King (two of Collingwood Football Club’s AFLW players) who will be taking the sessions football skills training sessions with our students. The three values that Penny instilled in our students are: 1. Side-By-Side 2. Be disciplined 3. Never Give Up Penny was a great hit with the students who enjoyed the range of training drills and games she provided. Later this week, Emma King will run the sessions.
