I have just returned from the most inspiring two-week course, attended by 14 other participants (Educators, TM Teachers and Meditators) from 9 countries across the world. “Training to Bring Consciousness-Based Education Programs to Your Nation” equipped us with the knowledge, skills, practice in workshops and packages of materials on the full range of Consciousness-Based educational (CBE) programs and their foundation in consciousness, with the ability to present and guide the implementation of these programs. We covered the basic principles, components and benefits of Consciousness-Based education, the scientific research findings and educational outcomes and became more skilful and comfortable using these when making presentations to others. Our course facilitators, Dr Ashley Deans (Global Ambassador of CBE) and Dr Susie Dillbeck (President- International Foundation of CBE), are the pre-eminent world experts of Consciousness-Based education. Strengthening our school’s relationship with Dr Deans, Dr Dillbeck and the International Foundation of CBE (IFCBE) was also a valuable outcome of this whole experience.
I was also fortunate to reunite on the evening of our Graduation with Dr Bevan Morris (Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace) who visited our school during our 20th Year Celebrations in 2017. Also attending was the Minister for Education (GCWP), Dr Volker Schanbacher. I was so pleased to have made the decision to attend the course but now am very happy to be back at our highly-regarded school.
My sincere thanks to Leisa James and Sam Russell for their leadership during my absence and to the teachers and staff for continuing to work closely together to ensure the smooth operation of the school.
BOITE Choir Performance
This year for the first time I unfortunately missed the BOITE School Choir Performance which I have been told was an exceptionally successful event. I have heard and read of our students’ reflections of their enjoyment of the occasion, feelings shared by the parents and staff who attended the evening.
Congratulations to all for being a part of something very special, a memory that will last forever. A special thanks to Virginia Bott for leading the Choir each week during rehearsals and the concert itself, guiding our students through the selection of incredibly beautiful songs. A big thank you also to our Music Teacher Katrina Wilson O’Brien for adding her support throughout the lead-up to the performance.
National Science Week – Science Challenge
I was thrilled to return and see the initiative of Mrs Aston and the teachers in preparing a special event for National Science Week. The Science Challenge event, on Thursday 15th August (3.30-4.30pm) will begin with a briefing to all participants in the Multi-Purpose Hall. All students and parents participating in the event (yes, it is open to parents also to be part of a team of four), will then proceed to the classrooms which will each be set up with a STEAM Challenge.
We look forward to your support where all students and parents remain after school to participate in this special event. Please register your attendance at the School Office.
Book Week – Reading Is My Power
We will celebrate the beginning of Book Week next Monday with a Book Week Costume Parade at 9.00am on the Basketball Court. We encourage all parents to attend the parade to see their child proudly parading dressed as their favourite book character. This day is always one of the memorable highlights of our school year for the school community as the children excitedly display their costumes.
On Tuesday our annual Book Fair will begin in the Library with all books and associated Book Week products available for purchase for one week. The Book Fair will be open each morning before school and each afternoon after school.
